The Death of Hyacinthos, sometimes referred to as The Death of Hyacinth, was completed by Jean Broc in 1801. It presently belongs in the collection of Poitiers and is often displayed at the Musée Rupert de Chièvres. This is Broc’s most famous work and is considered to be drawn from the Metamorphoses by Ovid. It is a depiction of the dead Hyacinthos cradled by his lover, the Greek god Apollo. In front of them is the discus which caused Hyacinth’s death, which was thrown by Apollo himself. The discus had been blown off course by the wind Zephyros, who was also in love with young Hyacinthos and was jealous of Apollo. From Hayacinthos’ blood sprang the Hyacinth flower which bears his name.

Computer update

The problem was a corrupt OS update. I am currently restoring from a Time Machine backup and keeping my fingers crossed that my music is included in that backup. I have a niggling suspicion I may have changed a setting that would have excluded it.

but that hasn’t stopped me from getting 100% on my homework assignment for the chapter that’s given me absolute fits all week.

However, it will probably stop me from getting any bills paid this weekend, since I don’t have my password manager program on my old iBook G4 and who the hell wants to type in passwords like I just did to be able to post this entry? For multiple accounts?

Computer troubles

I think my computer hard drive died tonight. I have an appointment at Apple’s Genius Bar tomorrow, since I can’t safeboot, I can’t run Disk Utility because the volume can’t be located, and I can’t restore from a Time Machine backup because the destination drive isn’t available.

Inspired by Cerebus660 over at The Glass Walking-Stick, with this post specifically.

Most definitely a little bit of everything, wouldn’t you agree? See anyone/anything you recognize?

Sorry if this post looks wonky; I posted the initial draft from my phone, then tried editing it using my Tor setup. Now I’m here, in regular Firefox and the code looks okay. It looked okay in Tor, too…so I’m not sure why the wonkiness happened in the first place.
